FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers to the questions we hear most often. If yours is not listed here, we are happy to help.
Before your appointment
What do I need to bring?
Please bring a current, government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license, state ID card, or passport), your complete but unsigned document, and any instructions from the organization that will receive it.
Not sure whether your ID qualifies? Just ask when you book.
Should I sign my document before we meet?
Please wait. Many documents must be signed in the notary’s presence, so it is best to sign during your appointment.
Does my document need to be complete?
Yes. A document with blank spaces or missing pages cannot be notarized. Please fill in everything except your signature and the notarial section before your appointment.
Can Sharon explain my document or give legal advice?
No. Sharon is a Florida Notary Public and is not an attorney, so she cannot give legal advice, explain the legal effect of a document, or prepare legal documents for you. If you have questions about your document, please ask an attorney or the organization that requested it.
Do I need witnesses?
Some documents require witnesses in addition to the notary. We can coordinate additional signing witnesses where required and available. Please let us know when you book.
Mobile and online appointments
Where do mobile appointments take place?
At homes, offices, hospitals, care facilities, and other agreed locations within the service area. Tell us where you are and we will confirm the details.
Are evening or weekend appointments possible?
Yes. Evening and weekend appointments are available by arrangement.
What is Remote Online Notarization?
Remote Online Notarization lets you complete a notarization by live video. It is available through a registered Florida online notary using a compliant platform with identity verification and recorded audio-video communication.
Eligible clients may participate from Florida, other U.S. states, or abroad, subject to applicable requirements.
Will my online or electronic notarization be accepted?
Acceptance is decided by the organization receiving your document. Please check with them before booking an electronic or online appointment.
Specific services
What does a loan signing appointment include?
Sharon coordinates the signing appointment for your prepared mortgage, refinance, or real estate document package. That includes the required notarizations, careful attention to every designated signature and initial field, and return of the documents according to the hiring party’s instructions.
Can Sharon officiate our wedding?
Yes, and happily. You will need a valid Florida marriage license. Sharon performs the ceremony, completes the officiant’s certification, and returns the completed license as required. Ceremonies can be private, intimate, or personalized.
What is an apostille, and who issues it?
An apostille authenticates a document for use in another country. Apostilles and authentication certificates are issued by the competent government authority. Sharon coordinates the process for you: preparing the submission, delivering it to the appropriate authority, tracking it, and returning the completed documents.
Can you certify a copy of my birth certificate?
No. Florida notaries may not certify copies of vital or public records, such as birth, death, or marriage certificates. Certified copies of those records come from the agency that issued them. Attested copies are available for other eligible original documents.
What is VIN verification?
It is a physical inspection that confirms a vehicle’s identification number, with completion of the applicable Florida form for eligible title and registration transactions.
